Knowledge baseMapping & constructionCost of a land survey

What does a drone land survey cost?

"What does it cost to survey a site with a drone?" The honest answer: it depends on what you need. A rough overview is a very different thing from a controlled 3D model your engineering office can work with. Here is what really drives the price.

Why do prices vary so much?

Two quotes for "surveying a site" can differ threefold, and that is not arbitrary. One delivers a picture, the other a measurable dataset a contractor or designer drops straight into their software. You only compare fairly once you know what sits behind the price.

What drives the price

And compared to a land surveyor?

A traditional surveyor usually charges by the day or by the point. For setting out a boundary or drawing up a deed they remain the right choice — and legally required. But for surveying whole areas, height differences and volumes, a single drone flight delivers thousands of measurement points in half an hour where someone on foot needs days. For that type of work the drone is usually faster and cheaper. Which one when? See Drone survey or land surveyor?

Common mistakes

Why with a drone (and why Droneview)?

A drone flight surveys an entire site at once, safely and without stopping the works. Droneview operates EASA-certified with the Matrice 30T and its own RTK base station, and gives an honest price up front based on what your site actually needs. How we carry out the survey, you can read on our page site efficiency & digital surveys.

Frequently asked questions

What determines the price of a drone survey?

The area, the number of ground control points (GCPs), the deliverables and formats you need, accessibility and travel time. A raw orthophoto costs less than a controlled 3D model with CAD files.

Is a drone cheaper than a land surveyor?

For volumes, heights and as-built often yes, because a single flight yields thousands of measurement points. For an official boundary or deed a sworn surveyor is still required; that is a different service.

Do I get a fixed price up front?

Yes. Based on the area, the accuracy you need and the deliverables we give a transparent price up front, with no surprises.
