How accurate is a drone volume measurement?

"99% accurate" sounds good, but what does it mean? On a crushing yard or a quarry it quickly involves thousands of euros per measurement. So you want to know where that accuracy comes from — and where it gets lost.

Why this matters

A volume that is off by 3% is already 1,500 m³ on 50,000 m³. That is the difference between a correct invoice and a dispute. Accuracy is therefore not a technical detail but the whole point of the measurement.

Absolute versus relative

There are two kinds of accuracy, and they are often mixed up:

Where the accuracy comes from

Three things decide whether you hit 99% or drift by metres: an RTK drone tied to a base station, enough ground control points and correct processing.
