VAT) should include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Representation and advocacy for the drone sector<\/li>\n<li>Networking with fellow professionals and entrepreneurs<\/li>\n<li>Four newsletters per year<\/li>\n<li>Free access to webinars<\/li>\n<li>Discounts on BDF events and Van Dessel drone insurance<\/li>\n<li>First-line advice on Open A1\/A3, Open A2 &amp; Specific categories<\/li>\n<li>Company listing on the BDF website<\/li>\n<li>Invitations to PRO events and roundtable sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On paper, a solid offer for professional drone operators.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>The Reality<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Unfortunately, the reality is quite different.<br \/>\nSince joining in March 2025, we have only received an automatic payment confirmation \u2014 no newsletters, no invitations, no updates, no communication at all.<br \/>\nAfter several attempts to reach out \u2014 via email, social media, and directly to board members \u2014 we received no reply. Even simple questions went unanswered.<\/p>\n<p>After six months, it seems clear that the federation has <strong>ceased to operate actively<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Why This Matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A federation should inform, represent, and connect its members \u2014 especially in a sector as regulated and fast-moving as ours.<br \/>\nWhen such an organization goes silent, not only do its members lose trust, but the entire Belgian drone industry loses its collective voice.<\/p>\n<p>For professional operators engaged in inspection, mapping, or thermography, reliable information is crucial \u2014 about regulations, Specific-category authorisations, Remote ID, or new compliance requirements. That\u2019s where a federation could truly make a difference.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>The Link with Van Dessel<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In our case, we discovered the Belgian Drone Federation through <strong>Van Dessel Insurance Brokers<\/strong>, who collaborate with the BDF and offer a discounted rate for its members.<br \/>\nAs such, membership was encouraged as an added benefit when taking out drone insurance.<\/p>\n<p>This makes the situation even more unfortunate: customers seeking reliable insurance are being referred to an organization that is <strong>barely active in practice<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWe have since informed Van Dessel of this, clarifying that we will not renew our membership unless BDF becomes visibly operational again.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>What We Do at DroneView.be<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At DroneView.be, we believe that sharing knowledge strengthens the industry.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s why we regularly publish articles on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.droneview.be\/en\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>blog<\/strong><\/a> covering topics such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updates on Belgian drone regulations<\/li>\n<li>Practical guides on Remote ID and airspace restrictions<\/li>\n<li>Technical insights into inspection, mapping, and thermography<\/li>\n<li>Examples of how drones create value in construction, industry, and energy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We do this not because we have to, but because we know it helps \u2014 our clients, fellow pilots, and the industry as a whole.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>The Question of Refunds: A Matter of Balance<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Many readers may wonder why we haven\u2019t formally requested a refund of the \u20ac199 membership fee, given that no services were provided.<\/p>\n<p>This question perfectly illustrates the frustration. While we <strong>are entitled to a refund<\/strong> \u2014 we paid for a service we never received \u2014 the practical effort simply outweighs the amount in question.<\/p>\n<p>What are the options? Sending a registered demand letter, investing time and money with no guaranteed reply? Taking it to court for \u20ac199?
